About the committee
The APPNA Young Physicians Committee (YPC) serves as a bridge between APPNA Central and the next generation of physicians — pre-medical students, medical students, residents, fellows and early-career physicians. It is dedicated to supporting young physicians as they navigate medical education, residency applications, career development, visa processes, mentorship and professional growth.
Over the years the role of APPNA YPC has expanded significantly. Today the committee provides guidance and resources across multiple stages of a physician's journey — from the road to medical school to residency training and early-career transition. Through dedicated volunteers, mentors and members, YPC creates meaningful opportunities for young physicians and helps identify future leaders within APPNA.

What they do
APPNA YPC supports young physicians through mentorship, advocacy, educational programs and career development — helping students and graduates understand and navigate the U.S. medical education and residency application process, which can often be overwhelming.
Residency mentorship & match support
Mentorship and guidance for medical students and graduates applying for U.S. residency — support that contributed to more than 1,000 matches from Pakistan last year.
Observership program
Connecting students and graduates with clinical learning opportunities, with roughly 400 placements to date and growing as more mentors join.
Visa advocacy & transition support
Guiding matched applicants through visa processes, with direct communication to Intealth, USMLE and FSMB on issues affecting young physicians.
Educational webinars & career guidance
Webinars and sessions for residents, fellows, early-career physicians and students — early-career webinars, residency mentorship sessions and Road to Medical School.
Scholarships & loan programs
Scholarship initiatives and loan programs that help reduce barriers during training and career development.
Leadership development
A platform to connect with APPNA, engage in service, build leadership skills and join the organization's future leadership pipeline.
